Mythic Portraits

I have come to find that all spiritual teachings throughout the world attempt to explain the connection between the nature of "self" and what we have come to call "God". Christianity has written that man was created in the image of God. In other philosophical systems this concept has been explained as a connection between our physical selves and a "Higher Self" which is really One. In studying the multiplicity of meaning, I set out to create portraits which reflected the many and long-forgotten mythological images of the Goddess. By meditation on the "deity", we can transcend ordinary experience and transform our perceptions. In the process emerges an account of each woman's individual personality inspired by the chosen mythos representing an aspect of her character. This on-going series is an attempt at capturing the many faces of Divinity.
