Saraswati is a Goddess worshipped in the Vedic religion. She is the goddess of knowledge of all the literary arts including, but not limited to, music, poetry, and speech. She is said to be the manifesting power which creates ideas, words and things. She is eloquent and calm. Her name in Sanskrit means "she who has lakes or pools". She makes it possible to learn, and therefore, her image is often seen in the front of schools and other educational institutions in India. Michelle Baker is a yoga instructor and her Sanskrit name ?ani Devi is a derivative of Saraswati. So when I asked her to be a part of this series she immediately knew which Goddess she would be depicted as! Michelle, with Saraswati? help, is in the process of manifesting a new yoga studio in downtown New Orleans. Visit SwanRiver Yoga for details.
